While you might think that’s crazy and that there’s no way that Haas would sell, you could very well be wrong. The only possible future that I can see of Nikita Mazepin having in F1 is if his dad buys the team to keep him his seat. In my complete honest opinion, a 5th place finish in Formula 2 is not good enough to make it into Formula 1, while unless of course your father is a multi billionaire who actually could potentially buy the team you race for so that you never lose your seat (and no I’m not talking about Lance Stroll). And while to be fair, the Haas car is literally a brick, but it really takes talent to somehow spin the slowest car on the circuit.

In qualifying he’s just under 1 second behind his teammate, mick Schumacher, but that gap widens during the race which clearly puts him as the number 2 driver for Haas. If he ends up getting 12 penalty points over the next 12 months, he will automatically get a one race ban. One was for ignoring Blue flags in an incident with Sergio Perez in Imola and another one for impeding Lando Norris’s qualifying lap in Spain. In the last week he has racked up 2 penalty points on his FIA super license.

He has made enemies with other drivers who have called him all sorts of names as he’s made stupid mistakes, mess up qualifying laps, and just plain overall always in the way it seems. In 2019, Mercedes had him test drive in Barcelona where he had the fastest lap time of anyone else there.īeing 4 races in now we can clearly see that the rookie driver is struggling hard having come last place in every race under merit and retiring from his very first Grand Prix in Bahrain. In 2016, Mazepin was actually named a test driver for Sahara Force India and was their test driver until 2018. His current teammate, Mick Schumacher was the F2 champion in 2020. In his second year though he had 6 podiums, 2 of which saw him with a gold medal, and him having finished 5th in the standings for F2 in 2020. In 2019 Mazepin made his jump up to Formula 2 where in his first year he finished 18th with 11 points scored. In 2018 he moved to GP3 where he won 4 races and came second in the championship with his team winning the constructors.

In his second year of F3 he finished with 108 points in a season that saw him on the podium 3 times. Mazepin had an altercation with Callum Ilott and Mazepin punched him in the face resulting in a race ban from the first race of the Hungaroring meeting of that year. 2016 saw Mazepin enter Formula 3 where in his first he scored four points and finished 20th. He started go karting in 2011 and by the time of his senior year in it in 2014 he became a vice-champion in the karting world championship with Lando Norris. Before Mazepin became infamous for his spins in F1 he also had a decent career leading up to it in go karting, Formula 3, and Formula 2.
